About the Maker
Poul Kjærholm was one of the defining figures of postwar Danish design, celebrated for bringing the discipline of cabinetmaking into dialogue with industrial materials. Trained first as a cabinetmaker before studying furniture design in Copenhagen, Kjærholm developed a precise and restrained design language that set him apart from many of his Danish modern contemporaries. Kjærholm’s work is represented in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, which lists four works by the designer, including his 1963 Nesting Tables and 1965 PK 24 Chaise Longue.
