A small but spirited ceramic work by Pablo Picasso. Conceived in 1952 and produced at the Madoura pottery workshop in Vallauris, France, the piece belongs to an edition of 500 and is referenced as Ramié 173.

About the Maker: Pablo Picasso (1881–1973) was one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, known for continually reinventing his practice across painting, sculpture, printmaking, drawing and ceramics. His ceramic work began in earnest in the late 1940s after his collaboration with the Madoura workshop in Vallauris, where he explored the medium with extraordinary freedom, often using plates, bowls, pitchers and vessels as surfaces for birds, faces, animals and mythological forms. The Madoura editions allowed Picasso’s ceramic imagery to circulate beyond unique studio works while retaining the immediacy, wit and graphic force central to his broader practice.
