Model AT16 Coat Hanger

Osvaldo Borsani’s AT16 coat hanger was designed for Tecno in 1961. The floor-to-ceiling form has a slender adjustable column with rotating arms, each ending in rounded wooden spheres of varying sizes. Made with wood, leather, brass and lacquered metal, the design turns a utilitarian coat hanger into a precise, kinetic object for the interior.

About the Maker:
Osvaldo Borsani (1911–1985) was an Italian architect and designer and co-founder of Tecno, established in Milan in 1953. Tecno became known for its technically advanced and modular furniture, developed through a close integration of design and engineering. Borsani’s work frequently incorporated adjustable and transformable elements, reflecting a broader postwar interest in flexibility and modern living. His designs remain central to the history of Italian modernism and are included in major museum collections.
