Model 880 “Grosseto” Lounge Chair

A Model 880 lounge chair designed by Gianfranco Frattini and produced by Cassina in 1963. The chair features a tall, segmented back and deep seat upholstered in leather, with enclosed arms supported by a low, angular wood base. About the Referenced Maker
Gianfranco Frattini (Italian, 1926–2004) was a leading figure in postwar Italian architecture and design. After graduating from the Polytechnic University of Milan, he worked in Gio Ponti’s studio before establishing an extensive practice spanning furniture, lighting and interiors. Frattini co-founded the Association for Industrial Design and created enduring works for Cassina, Bernini, Arteluce and Artemide. His designs are represented in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art and Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum.
