"Gronda" Mirror Coat Rack, Set of Seven

A stunning set of seven modular “Gronda” mirror coat racks by Luciano Bertoncini for Elco. Each vertical mirrored panel is framed in black ABS and fitted with a concealed pivoting coat hook, allowing the piece to function as both a full-length mirror and a wall-mounted storage system. Installed together, the panels create a clean architectural rhythm with a practical, hidden mechanism.

About the Maker:
Luciano Bertoncini was born in Feltre, Italy, in 1939 and began his career in Treviso, where he worked in the studio of architect Vittorio Rossi. His “Gronda” coat rack was selected for Elco’s catalog under the direction of Joe Colombo and won second prize in the 1971 Abet Print competition. After Colombo’s death, Bertoncini completed the executive phase of Colombo’s project for MoMA’s landmark 1972 exhibition Italy: The New Domestic Landscape.
