Storage Cabinet

A tall wood storage cabinet designed by Ignazio Gardella and produced by Azucena. The upper section is fitted with paired tambour doors, while sliding doors conceal the lower compartments. Brass handles accent the restrained case, framed by extended side panels with rectangular openings and raised on tapered legs. The cabinet retains its original Azucena label.

About the Maker:
Ignazio Gardella (Italian, 1905–1999) was a defining figure in 20th-century Italian architecture and design. In 1947, he co-founded Azucena with Luigi Caccia Dominioni and Corrado Corradi Dell’Acqua, creating a pioneering Milanese company that produced furniture originally conceived for their architectural interiors. Gardella’s career spanned architecture, furniture, lighting and academia, and he received the Golden Lion at the 1996 Venice Architecture Biennale alongside Philip Johnson and Oscar Niemeyer.
