'Limande' Lounge Chairs for Steiner

A pair of “Limande” lounge chairs designed by Kwok Hoï Chan for Steiner. Created in 1969, the model has a chrome-plated metal frame and mohair upholstery by Pierre Frey. This pair is from the Steiner edition, connecting the work to one of France’s important modern furniture manufacturers of the postwar period.

About the Maker
Kwok Hoï Chan (1939–1987) was a Chinese architect and interior designer. He studied architecture in Hong Kong before working internationally across interiors and furniture design. His early projects included furniture for Air India and the IBM offices in Hong Kong; from 1966 to 1968, he worked in London and contributed to the interiors of Cunard’s ocean liner Queen Elizabeth II. He later designed for Spectrum in the Netherlands before moving to Paris, where his furniture was produced by the French manufacturer Steiner. His known designs include the Zen chair, the Alligator lounge chair, the Chromatic range and seating produced by Steiner.
