Lunar Table from the Collection of Gwyneth Paltrow

A welded mirror-polished stainless steel coffee table by British artist and designer Julian Mayor, signed, dated 2020, and numbered 9/12 near the base. The low, faceted form is constructed from angular planes of reflective steel, creating a sculptural table with a sharp architectural profile and shifting surface reflections.

The piece comes from Gwyneth Paltrow’s Montecito home, a residence designed with Roman and Williams and Romanek Design Studio and featured by Architectural Digest. In the home, the table reflected Paltrow’s layered approach to interiors, where contemporary sculptural works were placed among classic European influences and warm California ease.

About the Maker
Julian Mayor is a British artist and designer known for sculptural works in welded sheet metal. Born in 1976, Mayor studied industrial design at the University of Northumbria before earning an MA in Design Products at the Royal College of Art under Ron Arad. His practice combines digital design with hand fabrication: each piece is first developed digitally, then built by hand in his workshop. Mayor’s work is recognized for its faceted, reflective surfaces and its dialogue between technology, industrial material, and traditional craftsmanship. His pieces have been shown internationally, including at the V&A in London and the Museum of Arts and Design in New York
